Spectrum 23.9 is the first radio stream belonging to Radio for a Cause, and launched September of 2018! Radio for a Cause was created in early 2016 by John Graham who wanted to make a positive impact in the community of Fort Wayne. Graham is a 2011 recipient of the Autism Society of Indiana’s Self Advocacy award. Radio broadcasting, something Graham has been passionate about since high school, has helped connect with individuals outside of his normal comfort zone. With help of close friends, who would also like to make an impact, came to him with an idea. The mission to start a community radio station that will empower and give individuals with disabilities a chance to learn about broadcasting and help build their resumes.
Spectrum 23.9 came to us by contest winner, David Lee, from Texas who thought of the name “The Spectrum Online Radio.” We could not have made this project happen without the help of Chuck & Lisa Surrack, who donated at least $2,000 in equipment from Sweetwater for the radio studio.
